Abstract
Objective:To investigate the therapeutic effect of Chinese herbal medicine in the adjuvant treatment of patients with chronic periodontitis and the regulation of immune function.Methods:Totally 108 patients with chronic peri-odontitis admitted to our hospital between September 2022 and July 2024 as study subjects were selected and divided into an observation group and a control group using a random number table,with 54 patients in each group.We compared the two groups in terms of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)syndrome scores,bite force indices,levels of inflammatory factors in gingival crevicular fluid,indicators related to periodontal and immune function,pathogen detection rates,and clinical efficacy.Results:Compared with the control group,the observation group showed improvements in traditional Chinese medicine syn-drome scores,quality of life scores,probing depth(PD),plaque index(PLI),sulcular bleeding index(SBI),attachment loss(AL),masticatory efficiency,left and right occlusal balance,helper T cells,regulatory T cells,prostaglandin E2(PGE2),in-terleukin-1 beta(IL-1β),and IL-6 levels,as well as the pathogen detection rate,were all lower in the observation group com-pared to the control group,while the mean alveolar bone density and overall clinical response rate were both higher,with sta-tistically significant differences(P<0.05).Conclusion:The use of traditional Chinese medicine as an adjunctive treatment for patients with chronic periodontitis has shown significant results;it helps improve inflammatory responses,suppress and e-liminate oral pathogens,and regulate immune function.关键词
