Experiences of older adults using digital technologies for fall prevention and management:a Meta-syn-thesis of qualitative research

Abstract
Objective To synthesize older adults experiences of using digital technologies for fall prevention and management,and to provide a reference for optimizing fall-prevention nursing interventions in community and home-based settings.Methods A system-atic search was conducted in PubMed,Cochrane Library,Web of Science,Embase,MEDLINE,CNKI,Wanfang Data,VIP,and the Chi-nese Biomedical Literature Database(CBM)for relevant qualitative studies,with the search period from inception to July 2026.The findings were synthesized using meta-synthesis.Results A total of 17 studies were included.From these,30 findings were extract-ed and grouped into 11 categories,which were further synthesized into 3 core findings.Digital technologies enhanced older adults sense of safety,self-management and the convenience of home-based training,whereas insufficient technology fit and multiple barriers limit-ed sustained use.Older adults expected age-friendly design,reliable responsiveness,and continuous professional support.Different technologies presented varying experiential emphases:Sensor-based monitoring and smart assistive devices highlighted safety assur-ance alongside usage burden;mobile applications and tablet-based training programs were more affected by digital literacy;and remote monitoring platforms emphasized responsiveness and care coordination.Conclusion Digital technologies have potential value in fall prevention and management among older adults.Technology matching should be based on fall risk,physical function,digital literacy,and caregiving support,and mechanisms for usage instruction,alarm response,and continuity of care should be established.关键词
