The Influence of The number of Leaves Harvested with Stems on the Quality of Upper Leaves of Mountain Flue-cured Tobacco

Abstract
To clarify the optimal number of upper leaves harvested with stems for mountain flue-cured tobacco,the tobacco cultivar Yunyan 87 was used as the experimental material.Five leaf retention treatments,including 3(T3),4(T4),5(T5),6(T6),and 7(T7)upper leaves harvested with stems,were set up to investigate the effects of different leaf retention numbers on the quality and economic traits of upper flue-cured tobacco leaves.The results showed that with the increase in leaf retention number,the single leaf weight,leaf area weight and starch content decreased,while the contents of total sugar and reducing sugar increased.The T6 and T7 treatments exhibited better proportions of superior tobacco and average price.The T5 treatment obtained the highest appearance quality index.The total score of smoking quality was relatively higher in T5 and T6 treatments.Leaf retention number exerted the greatest effects on leaf identity of appearance quality,single leaf weight of physical properties,and starch content of chemical components.In general,the appropriate number of upper leaves harvested with stems for Yunyan 87 flue-cured tobacco is 5-6 leaves in the Qiannan tobacco-growing area of Guizhou Province.关键词
