Efficacy observation of heat-sensitive moxibustion combined with modified Ba Zhen decoction for cancer-related fatigue after chemotherapy

Abstract
Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of heat-sensitive moxibustion combined with modified Ba Zhen decoction in the treatment of cancer-related fatigue(CRF)in patients with gastric cancer after chemotherapy.Method A total of 106 patients with CRF after chemotherapy for gastric cancer were assigned by block randomization to an observation group and a control group,with 53 patients in each group.The control group received modified Ba Zhen decoction,while the observation group additionally received heat-sensitive moxibustion.Primary outcome measures included fatigue-related scales,namely the cancer fatigue scale(CFS),Piper fatigue scale-revised(PFS-R),and brief fatigue inventory(BFI);immune function indicators;and serum tumor markers,including carcinoembryonic antigen(CEA),carbohydrate antigen 72-4(CA72-4),and carbohydrate antigen 19-9(CA19-9).Secondary outcome measures included traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)syndrome scores,serum gastrointestinal hormone levels,and clinical efficacy.Result After treatment,CFS,PFS-R,and BFI scores were significantly reduced in both groups compared with baseline(P＜0.05),and the reductions were greater in the observation group than in the control group(P＜0.05).The proportions of CD3﹢ T cells,CD4﹢ T cells,and CD8﹢ T cells improved significantly in both groups after treatment(P＜0.05),with greater improvements in the observation group(P＜0.05).Serum levels of CEA,CA72-4,and CA19-9 decreased significantly in both groups after treatment compared with baseline(P＜0.05),and were lower in the observation group than in the control group(P＜0.05).TCM syndrome scores were significantly reduced in both groups after treatment(P＜0.05),with lower scores in the observation group(P＜0.05).Serum gastrin and motilin levels increased significantly after treatment in both groups(P＜0.05),whereas vasoactive intestinal peptide levels decreased significantly(P＜0.05);all changes were more pronounced in the observation group(P＜0.05).The overall response rate was 89.8%in the observation group,significantly higher than the 81.6%in the control group(P＜0.05).Conclusion Heat-sensitive moxibustion combined with modified Ba Zhen decoction demonstrates significant efficacy in patients with cancer-related fatigue following chemotherapy for gastric cancer.关键词
