树木生命周期视角下城市树木修剪方法研究进展
Research Advances in Urban Tree Pruning Methods from the Perspective of Tree Life Cycle

Abstract
Urban tree pruning practices in China are oriented by somewhat different goals from other countries.In China,more attention is paid to the achievement of short-term goals,emphasizing aesthetics and public safety,while international practices place greater emphasis on long-term objectives such as tree health and ecosystem services.Despite these differences in pruning objectives,the pruning method classification systems have not been updated accordingly.The existing classifications remain largely similar worldwide,developed primarily on operational approaches,which lack inherent coherence and result in a fragmented structure.This paper proposes a pruning method of"cultivation-maintenance-restoration"aligned with the tree life cycle.The cultivation stage targets young and middle-aged trees and uses a formative pruning pathway to shape a sound crown structure and a stable framework for subsequent growth.The maintenance stage focuses on mature trees and practices such as crown reduction,crown thinning,crown lifting,crown cleaning,and structural pruning are adopted.The restoration stage applies to aging or damaged trees,emphasizing delayed decline and damage repair through rejuvenation pruning.This classification framework,which is established on tree growth stages,can alleviate the confusions in the current pruning classification and advance the urban green space management towards systematic and sustainable upgrading.关键词
