Academic Thought and Experience of Professor ZHOU Yunfeng in Treating Functional Dyspepsia with Tremor Pressure Method

Abstract
Functional dyspepsia(FD)falls under the category of"gastric distension"and"stomachache"in traditional Chinese medicine(TCM).Its key pathogenesis mainly involves obstructed qi movement in the middle energizer due to disharmony of spleen and stomach,as well as imbalance between the liver and spleen.Based on the"middle energizer as balance,unsettled if not balanced"theory,Professor ZHOU Yunfeng proposes the therapeutic approach of harmonizing the nature of spleen and stomach,regulating the mechanism of liver and spleen,and achieving both dredging and tonifying,with the tremor pressure method applied.In clinical practice,tremor pressure at Shenque(CV 8)and Tianshu(ST 25)invigorates the middle energizer and restores ascending and descending.Gentle vibration at Zhongwan(CV 12)and Qimen(LR 14)soothes liver depression and harmonizes liver and spleen.Supplementary application at Qihai(CV 6)and Zusanli(ST 36)replenishes qi and promotes transportation,thereby promoting unblocking through tonification.During manipulation,emphasis is placed on combining the"three dimensions"of force,speed,and depth,ensuring that the force penetrates into the abdomen and allows qi to arrive at the affected area.Then,qi movement in the middle energizer is restored to a harmonious and unobstructed state.This method strictly targets the core pathogenesis of FD,"obstructed qi movement",and restores the"balance"of the middle energizer by"dredging"manipulation,manifesting the strategy of utilizing unblocking as function and regulation as treatment.This paper systematically summarized Professor ZHOU Yunfeng's differentiation and treatment strategies for FD by the tremor pressure method,aiming to offer a clear and structured clinical reference for treating internal medical diseases with tuina.关键词
