The Global Development Initiative and China's Contributions to Development Cooperation in East Asia

Abstract
Development knowledge and practice in East Asia have undergone a historical evolution from the introduction of Western developmentalism and the emergence of regional agency to a turn toward new developmentalism.New developmentalism,which gradually took shape and gained prominence in this process,emphasizes the autonomy of development actors,the diversity of development pathways,and the contextual embeddedness of development knowledge.By advancing new development norms,fostering partnerships based on equality,and building institutionalized mechanisms for sustained cooperation,the Global Development Initiative provides a vehicle for translating the normative consensus of new developmentalism into the practice of international development cooperation.The alignment of development value orientation,the matching of development supply with regional demand,and the coordination of development pathways provide,respectively,the cognitive foundation,practical impetus,and enabling conditions for aligning the Initiative with East Asia's development process.On this basis,China has implemented the Global Development Initiative by promoting the sharing and adaptation of development experience,reforming and building development governance mechanisms,and providing diverse public goods for development.These efforts have contributed to broadening the region's pathways toward modernization,enhancing the institutional participation of developing countries,and strengthening East Asia's capacity for sustainable development.关键词
