The Value"Black Box"of Digital Capitalism:A Political Economy Critique of Unwaged Digital Labor

Abstract
Regarding the value"black box"of digital capitalism,where"free services"and enormous profits coexist,existing critical theories lack a systematic explanation that integrates the entire chain of the labor process,value formation,and capital accumulation.Through a critical reconstruction of classic theories like the"audience commodity",this study constructs a theoretical model to explain the value transformation process of users' unpaid digital labor.The research finds that this process is driven by a threefold,progressive mechanism:First,through a mechanism of"abstraction",platform algorithms reduce users' heterogeneous concrete labor into homogenized data"raw materials".Second,through a mechanism of"commodification",capital processes the data into exchangeable,value-bearing forms.Finally,value realization and capital accumulation are completed through the internal and external circuits of"surplus-value realization".This reveals that exploitation under digital capitalism exhibits new characteristics of pervasiveness and covertness,accompanied by a profound"data alienation".The root of this phenomenon lies in the fundamental contradiction between the socialization of production and the private monopoly over data and algorithms as the core means of production.The proposal of this theoretical model attempts to provide a degree of theoretical support for understanding the operational logic of digital capital and for enhancing the governance of the digital economy.关键词
