The Impact of Digital-Real Industrial Technology Convergence on Manufacturing Industry Chain Resilience:Evidence from Listed Manufacturing Firms in China

Abstract
The digital-real industrial technology convergence has initiated a new phase of industrial reorganization and business model innovation,offering fresh opportunities to strengthen the resilience of the manufacturing industry chain.This study utilizes data from Chinese listed manufacturing firms between 2010 and 2023 and investigates,from the perspective of individual enterprises within the chain,the impact of digital-real industrial technology convergence on the resilience of the manufacturing industry chain and its underlying mechanisms.The findings are as below.The digital-real industrial technology convergence significantly enhances the resilience of the manufacturing industry chain.The digital-real industrial technology convergence contributes to improving production efficiency and optimizing the labor structure,thereby enhancing the resilience of the manufacturing industry chain.Furthermore,digital transformation,intelligent development and collaborative digital intelligence amplify the role of digital-real industrial technology convergence in strengthening industry chain resilience.Heterogeneity analysis shows that,externally,the positive effects are more pronounced in strategic emerging industries,firms with lower financing constraints,and those operating in highly competitive environments.Internally,state-controlled enterprises,those undergoing transformation toward specialization,refinement,distinctiveness,and innovation,and firms with strong capital profitability derive greater benefits from such technological integration in terms of enhancing resilience.This research contributes theoretical insights into the role of digital-real industrial technology convergence in manufacturing industry chains and offers practical implications for advancing digital-real economy convergence and formulating industrial security strategies.关键词
