Abstract
The precise supplementation,demonstration of reduction,and safety regulation of trace ele-ments have become important directions of research with the increasing demands for green,safe and sustain-able development in modern animal husbandry.Copper,as an essential trace element for broilers,is involved in multiple physiological functions of the body.This article systematically reviewed the sources,nutritional re-quirements of copper in broilers,and the progress on applying copper in the growth promotion,gut homeosta-sis,antioxidant capacity,bone development,and environmental and safety control.The nutritional requirements of copper in broilers vary due to various factors including the breed,the stage of growth,feeding environment,and goals of production.The new source of copper combined with the preparations of enzyme,plant extracts,probiotics and other strategies of nutritional synergy can effectively balance the efficiency of production and the safety of application.Studies in the future should further clarify the requirement standards of copper for dif-ferent breeds of broilers,optimize the combination of the sources and doses of copper,and develop technolo-gies of regulating copper nutrition that combine high efficacy,low residue,and environment friendly to provide a theoretical basis for the healthy and sustainable development of the broilers industry.关键词
