Comparative Trial of Potato Varieties in Kaizhou District

Abstract
Kaizhou District,located in Chongqing,is a major potato-producing region,and spring potato is an im-portant food and economic crop.To select high-yield,high-quality and disease-resistant medium-early or medium maturing potato varieties for local promotion,a comparative trial of 15 potato varieties was carried out in Zhuxi Town of Kaizhou District by using'Favorita'as a control.Phenological phases,morphological and agronomic traits,tuber characteristics,yield,marketable tuber percentage,and disease resistance were systematically evaluated.The growth period of the tested varieties ranged from 74 to 89 days,and they all belong to the medium-early to medium maturing types.'Minshu 2'had a growth period of 85 days and presented the highest yield of 2 788 kg/667m2,which was 57.97％higher than that of the control variety'Favorita'.It had a marketable tuber percentage of 87.93％,with no mosaic disease detected and a low incidence of late blight.'Zhongshu 49'had a growth period of 83 days with the second-highest yield of 2 628 kg/667m2,which increased by 48.93％compared with the control,and had the highest marketable tuber percentage(89.07％),and showed resistance to mosaic disease,leaf roll disease and late blight with no disease symptoms observed.'Zhongshu 19'had a growth period of 80 days with a yield of 2 617 kg/667m2,which was 48.31％higher than the control,had a marketable tuber percentage of 84.58％and showed excellent disease resistance.'Xingjia 2'was unsuitable for local cultivation due to its low yield(1 126 kg/667m2),which was significantly lower than the control,with a yield reduction of 36.16％,and its low emergence percentage(42.59％).In conclusion,'Minshu 2','Zhongshu 49'and'Zhongshu 19'are recommended as priority medium-early and medium maturing potato varieties for promotion in Kaizhou District.关键词
