A study on the current situation of the Social Medicine course for Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery international students under the Belt and Road initiative
摘要
Abstract
To promote the precise development and teaching improvement of the social medicine course for international students in the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery(MBBS)program under the Belt and Road initiative, this study surveyed 42 MBBS international students from the Qilu Medical College of Shandong U-niversity,using a self-designed questionnaire to collect their overall evaluation of the social medicine course,pref-erences regarding teaching methods, and feedback on assessment practices. The results showed that 90.48%of the MBBS international students had at least a moderate interest in the course(45.24%moderately interested vs.45.24%very interested),71.43%considered the class hours appropriate, and 71.43%believed that the course was helpful for their clinical medicine studies.Case-based teaching(47.62%)and group discussion(23.81%)were the most preferred teaching methods.Regarding the written examination,59.52%of the MBBS international students considered its difficulty moderate, while 14.29%found it very difficult.Overall,MBBS international students showed relatively high recognition of the Social Medicine course, although a small number of students found the examination rather difficult. It is suggested that more case-based teaching and formative assessment be incorporated into the subsequent teaching process, and that a health case database for countries along the Belt and Road be developed.关键词
