Research advances on the pathogenesis of pericytes in the development of cerebral small vessel disease and its targeted therapeutic strategies
摘要
Abstract
Cerebral small vessel disease(CSVD)is one of the major causes of stroke and vascular cognitive impairment,yet specific treatments that effectively slow its progression remain lacking.As an important components of the neurovascular unit,pericytes play essential roles in regulating cerebral microcirculation,blood-brain barrier integrity,and the stability of the microenvironment homeostasis for white matter injury repair.The role of pericyte dysfunction in the pathogenesis and progression of CSVD has therefore attracted increasing attention.This review summarized the physiological functions of pericytes,the mechanisms by which pericyte dysfunction participates in the pathological processes of CSVD,the pathological characteristics of pericyte dysfunction in different CSVD subtypes,and recent advances in potential intervention strategies targeting pericytes,with the aim of providing a reference for a deeper understanding of the pathological evolution of CSVD and for exploring novel preventive and therapeutic strategies.关键词
