Origin and essence of'syndrome differentiation and treatment'in Treatise on Febrile Diseases

Abstract
According to the modern theories of traditional Chinese medicine,Treatise on Febrile Disease has a complete system of syndrome differentiation and treatment and rich thoughts of syndrome differentiation and treatment,but it is not comprehensive to study Treatise on Febrile Disease with the theoretical framework of syndrome differentiation and treatment.Treatise on Febrile Disease summarizes the achievements of classical prescription medicine from the Eastern Han Dynasty and earlier periods,forming a treatment system of'correspondence between prescription and syndrome(disease symptom)'.The original text of'syndrome'in Treatise on Febrile Disease is'symptom',its meaning is'disease and symptom'.The theoretical connotation of'syndrome differentiation and treatment'and'syndrome'in the modern theories of traditional Chinese medicine is gradually formed in response to the influence of modern medicine,and differs from the meaning of'syndrome'in Treatise on Febrile Disease is not exactly the same.This paper aims to explore the origin and essence of'syndrome differentiation and treatment'in Treatise on Febrile Disease theoretically,and reveal its intrinsic connotation,so as to accurately understand ZHANG Zhongjing's academic thoughts,which has certain significance for guiding clinical work.关键词
