体认翻译学视域下《水调歌头》英译的认知差异与诠释路径
Cognitive Differences and Interpretive Approaches of the English Translation of Prelude to Water Melody from the Perspective of Embodied-Cognitive Translatology:A Case Study of Xu Yuanchong's and Burton Watson's Versions

Abstract
Embodied-cognitive translatology,with"body"(interactive experience of reality)and"cognition"(mental cognitive processing)as its core mechanisms,provides a localized theoretical perspective for interpreting cognitive differences in the English translation of classical Chinese poetry.Taking the English translations by Xu Yuanchong and Burton Watson as research objects,this paper adopts textual comparative analysis from four dimensions:imagery transmission,content interpretation,rhythmic treatment,and syntactic structure,to explore the deep-seated cognitive motivations for translation differences between different versions.The study finds that the English translation of this poem is essentially a dynamic embodied-cognitive process based on the commonality of"physical experience"and the differences in"conceptualization".Although both translators reach a consensus on the level of"physical experience",such as natural imagery,their expressions diverge at the level of"conceptualization"due to differing cultural backgrounds and translation philosophies.Specifically,Xu Yuanchong's translation lays emphasis on cultural fidelity and aesthetic representation to restore the literary charm and cultural connotation of the original poem,while Burton Watson's translation pursues fluency,intelligibility and communicative effectiveness,focusing on the accurate transmission of the core meaning of the original work.Their differentiated translation approaches and paradigms interpret the embodied-cognitive logic of classical Chinese poetry translation from different perspectives,and jointly enrich the cross-cultural expression dimensions of Prelude to Water Melody.关键词
