Research on the influence of migrant work experience on the adoption of water-saving technology by kiwifruit growers
摘要
Abstract
The adoption of water-saving technologies by agricultural producers provides a critical pathway to enhance irrigation ef-ficiency and promote sustainable agricultural development.Analyzing the factors that influence the use of these technologies allows re-searchers to explore the inducement effects behind farmers' adoption decisions.Using survey data from 677 kiwifruit growers in Shaanxi Province, this paper employed Probit models, propensity score matching, and mediation effect models to examine how migration experi-ence affected the growers' adoption of water-saving technologies and through which pathways. The findings showed that:(1)Migration experience significantly encouraged kiwifruit growers to adopt water-saving technologies, and this conclusion withstood a series of ro-bustness checks.(2)A closer analysis indicated that intra-provincial migration experience positively and significantly influenced a-doption,whereas inter-provincial migration experience didn't produce a significant effect.(3)The mechanism analysis revealed that migration experience boosts adoption by raising technical awareness. However,as migration expanded the growers' social networks,it al-so created an inhibitory effect on adoption. Therefore,to encourage kiwifruit growers to adopt water-saving technologies, the government should develop township industries to attract return migrants, increase policy subsidies to lower technology costs, and establish a compre-hensive technology extension system to reduce adoption barriers.关键词
