Karyotype Analysis and Observation on Male Mitosis of Megaselia scalaris (Diptera:Phoridae)

Abstract
The sex of 3rd instar larvae of Megaselia scalaris was determined by RAPD. Based on the traditional knocking-slides and Giemsa-staining methods, the metaphase chromosome and mitosis of Megaselia scalaris were analyzed. The result showed that the karyotype of the phorid fly consists of three chromosome pairs, two of which are metacentrics, one is telocentric. The metaphase chromosomes showed pairing between homologues. In late metaphase, while the two metacentric chromosome pairs are still somatically paired, the homologues of the telocentric chromosome pair are separate.关键词
