Effect of α-Linolenic Acid from Silkworm pupa Oil on Experimental hyperlipidemia in Rats

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the preventive and therapeutic effects of α-linolenic acid from silkworm pupa oil in hyperlipidemic rats.Methods: Hyperlipidemia in SD rats was induced by feeding high-fat diet.α-Linolenic acid from silkworm pupa oil was also fed to the model rats.The contents of serum triglyceride(TG),total cholesterol(TC),high-density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C) and apolipoprotein AI(Apo A-I) were determined,and the activities of lipoprotein lipase(LPL) and hepatic lipase(HL) were analyzed.Results: α-Linolenic acid from silkworm pupa oil could result in a significant decrease in the contents of TC and TG,and an increase in the contents of HDL-C and Apo A-I and the activities of LPL and HL in hyperlipidemia rat serum.Conclusion: α-Linolenic acid from silkworm pupa oil has significantly preventive and therapeutic effects in hyperlipidemia rats.关键词
