Determination of Fluorescent Whitening Agents in Food by HPLC

Abstract
There is not any quantitative determination method for the illegal use of fluorescent whitening agent in our national standards by now. In this article, a method for the determination of triazin amino stilbene-type fluorescent whitening agents (FWAs) in food (most are fungus, starch) by HPLC was developed. The fluorescent whitening agents were determined by ion-pair high-performance liquid chromatography coupled with fluorescence detector applying Tetrabutylammonium Hydrogen Sulfate as the ion-pairing reagent in mobile phase. The method enables quantitation of o.l mg/kg to 100 mg/kg of FWAs with linear relationship R2 of 0.9995. The limit of detection was 5 μg/L and the recovery rates are between 87.1% and 92.5 %.关键词
