摘要

Abstract

Gypsophila oldhamiana Miq.(GOM) was extracted with chloroform:methanol(1:1,V/V) in a Soxhlet extractor,and the extraction was then partitioned with petroleum ether,EtOAc and BuOH successively.Antioxidant activity of the extractions was evaluated in four different assays,namely,the 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl(DPPH) radical scavenging,the Marklund,the 1,10-phenanthroline-Fe2+oxidative and the phosphomolybdenum assays,and compared with that of butylated hydroxytoluene(BHT).The results showed that the ethyl acetate-soluble fraction exhibited higher DPPH free radical scavenging activity(p0.05) than BHT in the DPPH· assay and similar reducing power to BHT in the phosphomolybdenum assay at all concentration levels tested,while petroleum ether-soluble fraction exhibited greater superoxide free radical scavenging activity in the Marklund method and scavenging hydroxyl radical activity in the 1,10-phenanthroline-Fe2+ oxidative method(p0.05) than BHT at all concentration levels tested.
