Abstract

A new carbon nanoparticle ionic liquid hybrid (CNP1L) was synthesized from ionic liquid 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate and fructose by a facile one-step microwave synthetic method. Adding the CNPIL as conductive agent and binder, a new carbon based supercapacitor was prepared and compared with the traditional carbon based supercapacitor. The results show that spherical carbon nanoparticles with diameter below 4 nm exist in CNPIL. The CNPIL shows the high conductivity of 13.26× 10-3 S · cm-1 at 70 ℃. The charge-discharge efficiency of prepared supercapecitors improves from 89.1% to 97.3%. The specific capacitance reaches 251.1 F · g-1 from 115.7 F· g-1. The internal resistance has fallen from 1.95Ω of traditional carbon supercapacitor to 1.23 Ω of new carbon based supercapacitor. In addition, the cycle ability of new carbon based supercapacitor increase significantly.
