Abstract

Ni-Mn oxalate precursors were prepared using homogeneous co-precipitation method. The as-prepared oxalate precursors with the optimal conditions were characterized using XRD, SEM, particle size analyzer and TG analysis methods etc. After calcination of the precursors, pellets were formed and sintered into densified ceramics, then the electric properties of prepared ceramics were measued. The results show that the optimal technological conditions of co-precipitation are as following: the mole ratio n(diethyl-aceto oxalate)/n( metal ions)=2, reaction temperature at 80 'C and reaction time about 4 h. The precursors prepared with this optimal conditions aie well dispersed scarcely without any agglomerate and form the solid solution of (Ni, Mn)C2O4· nH2O isostructured with MnC2O4 ·2H5O, which present nearly octahedron morphology with uniform size distribution of 2-10 urn. The precursors become completely weightless at about 700 ℃ and form a highly reactive Ni0.6Mn2.4O4 phase with spinel structure. The densified ceramics can be achieved sintered at 1 200 ℃ with a specific resistivity of 2 030 Ω · cm and B value of 3 930 K.
