Purification and Homology Analysis of Enterococcin SAU-2

Abstract
Enterococcin SAU-2 was partially purified by 90% ammonium sulfate precipitation followed by SP Sepharose Fast Flow chromatography. After the purification of enterococcin, a 10.79-fold enhancement in specific activity and a recovery rate of 17.27% were achieved. The estimated molecular weight of enterococcin SAU-2 was approximately 4350 D based on Tricine- SDS-PAGE. The structural gene and amino acid sequences of the enterococcin SAU-2 had low homology with those of most enterococcins. The enterococcin SAU-2 was identified as a new member of the bacteriocin family.关键词
