Abstract

The effects of ABA and Fluridone on content of chlorophyll and carotenoids, thiobarbiturie acid reactive substances (TBARS), soluble sugar and proline in weedy rice with different chilling-resistance types at 5℃ were studied. The cold-tolerant WR03-45, cold-sensitive WR03-26 and cultivated rice Lijingxintuanheigu (CK) were examined and 5℃ low temperature condition in artificial climate chamber. The results showed that the TBARS content of weedy rice decreased and the soluble sugar and proline contents increased with applying ABA. However, there were no obvious changes in chlorophyll and carotenoids contents of weedy rice with applying ABA. The trends of those in applying Fluridone were negatively related with the change in applying ABA. This indicated that the chilling-resistance of weedy rice could be enhanced by applying ABA and restrained by applying Fluridone. There had different physiological effects of exogenous hormones on different chilling -resistance type weedy rice, showing that there were significant effects of exogenous hormones on WR03-26 which is cold-sensitive, while there were no significant effects of that on cold-tolerance WR03-45 and cultivated rice Lijingxintuanheigu.
