由于亚洲2号卫星已达寿命期，水利部进行了卫星转发器接续和主站改造工程，目前新一代水利卫星系统已正式投入使用。新一代水利通信卫星采用亚洲5号和亚太6号通信卫星空间资源，为保证防汛卫星通信网在强降雨条件下可靠工作，增加C波段卫星资源，组成Ku+C双星双波段卫星通信网。详细介绍卫星承载平台的结构和特点、转发器的技术性能和关键参数，并简要介绍有效载荷、监控系统等内容，以期使广大水利工作者了解和利用卫星通信。
