Abstract

In this study, two of the most widely cultivated vegetable in Hainan,pepper and tomato were planted under soil culture conditions, changes of physiological indicators of the two crops were recorded under different waterlogging stress levels. The study found that the root vigor, transpiration and photosynthesis physiological activity weakened with the number of waterlogging stress days increased. Pepper roots began to rot after stress three days, and tomato was later a day than pepper. The root activity of the two vegetables was 1/3, and the net photosynthetic rate decreased to the control of 1/2. Under the stress of waterlogging stress, the transpiration rate of pepper was slight, but the rate of tomato decreased obviously, and it decreased quickly after root system decomposed. In conclusion, the tolerance of tomato to waterlogging stress is stronger than that of pepper.
