摘要

Abstract

A single-feed circularly polarized square ring patch antenna was proposed. The radiating patch of the antenna was composed of a square ring and an L-shaped strip on the diagonal line and the substrate was an air layer or a stacked substrate composed of an FR4 plate and an air layer. Circular polarization radiation could be achieved by adjusting the width of the strip and the feeding location on the strip. Results reveal that when the thickness of the substrate is 0.049λ0 (λ0 is the central wavelength), the impedance bandwidth is above 6%, the circular polarization bandwidth is 1.8%, the peak power gain is about 8.7dB, and the minimum AR (axial ratio) is lower than 0.5 dB. Compared with that of conventional patch antennas, the patch area is reduced by 47%.
