Abstract

Honeycomb-like Ni0.85Se nanosheet arrays supported by nickel foams were successfully synthesized via a facile one-step hydrothermal approach. The crystal structure, composition,morphology and lattice of the synthesized Ni0.85Se nanosheet arrays were characterized by X-ray powder diffraction, energy dispersive spectrometer, scanning electronic microscopy and transmission electron microscopy. Characterization results reveal that the as-obtained Ni0.85Se nanosheets belong to hexagonal crystal phase with the thickness of about 15 nm. By virtue of cyclic voltammetry and chronoamperometry methods, the electrocatalytic activity of Ni0.85Se nanosheet arrays toward glucose oxidation was tested. It is found that Ni0.85Se nanosheet arrays show high amperometric response to glucose (the current response can reach up to 10–3A), lower detection limit of 0.002 mmol/L (S/N=3), wide linear range of 0.0022-1.022 mmol/L, higher sensitivity [1600 μA/(mmol·L–1·cm2)] and excellent selectivity. All the results indicate that honeycomb-like Ni0.85Se nanosheet arrays are promising materials for non-enzymatic glucose sensors.
