Design of a compact dual-polarized magneto-electric dipole antenna

Abstract
A compact dual-polarized magneto-electric dipole antenna was presented. By adjusting the shape of the planar dipole antenna, the return path of the radiation surface current was extended, therefore the antenna could achieve the miniaturization. The impedance bandwidth of the antenna could be increased effectively by using the two linear tapered Γ-shaped feeding strips. As shown in measured results, the antenna obtains a return loss of less than –15 dB from 1.63 GHz to 2.78 GHz, and the isolations between the two ports are less than –25 dB in the whole frequency band. Meanwhile, the antenna obtains a stable gain. The antenna has good radiation characteristics. Compared with the traditional antennas, the antenna has simple and compact structure as well as small size. According to the above results, the proposed antenna can be applied to the wireless communication systems. In addition, it can be used as a unit of the base station antenna array.关键词
