摘要

Abstract

There was a phenomenon of "Professor-principal" in secondary education in the era of the Republic of Chi-na.At least 12 reputable professors had served as principals of famous secondary schools and had achieved remarka -ble results.Some of the principals even played the representative and symbolic role of secondary schools .The profes-sor-principals have created the brilliance period of time of secondary education and set up an example of educator run -ning school in history of modern education.The external reason why professors were invited as principals of famous secondary schools is the requirement of setting up affiliated schools in teachers college , the influence of the establish-ment of University District system, and so on, while the Internal causes were deeply influenced by the thought of" Saving the Nation with Education " and desire to realize their educational ideal.Leading educational thoughts , being bold in making innovations , recruiting quality teachers , conducting democratic management and winning people by virtue are the common characteristics of the professor-principle running the school.The reference significance of the phenomenon of professor-principle to the educational reform at present includes carrying out the idea of educator run -ning school, improving the overall quality of principles and contacting with universities and schools .
