Abstract

The presence of paint mist residue is an unavoidable defect during the spraying process of offshore platforms.According to current acceptance criteria,manual grinding is required to remove the paint mist residue adhering to the surface of the coating during the process,which not only requires a large amount of additional manpower but also poses a significant challenge to project schedules.In this paper,we studied the influence of paint mist residue on the corrosion resistance of two commonly used anti-corrosion systems for atmospheric areas on offshore platforms.Through tests such as adhesion,neutral salt spray test,and condensation test on the anti-corrosion system,it was concluded that in the absence of normal film appearance,the adverse impact of paint mist residue on the performance of the atmospheric area anti-corrosion system is relatively small,and it is possible to simplify the grinding process during the coating process.
