Abstract
In recent years,the field of chelonian breeding has witnessed rapid expansion in China.However,the literature on the diagnosis and treatment of aural abscesses,also known as ear abscesses,remains limited.Owners and veterinarians have encountered challenges in effectively managing this condition due to a lack of experience.Aural abscess,a common infectious disease in chelonians,encompassing tortoises and turtles,arises from a presence of vitamin A deficiency and subsequent bacterial or viral infections ascending through the eustachian tube and affecting the tympanic cavity.This study presents three clinical cases wherein one or both ear canals were obstructed with a plug of caseous material,exhibiting a firm cheese-like consistency.Through a meticulous examination of medical history,husbandry practices,and clinical physical assessments,a definitive diagnosis of aural abscess was established.Following a comprehensive treatment plan involving antibacterial interventions,surgical debridement,anti-inflammatory pain relief,and intensified husbandry practices,all three chelonians achieved full recovery without recurrence after two months.These case reports offer valuable insights into the diagnosis and treatment of aural abscesses in chelonians,contributing to a more informed approach in managing this condition.关键词
