摘要

Abstract

Lactoferrin is an iron-binding glycoprotein widely found in mammal milk and mucosal secretions.Lactoferrin has broad-spectrum antibacterial,antiviral,immunomodulatory,and other physiological functions,and is used in various fields,such as infant for-mula milk powder,nutritional supplements,and cosmetics.In recent years,with the continuous development of genetic engineering tech-nology,lactoferrin from different species has been successfully expressed in common prokaryotic expression systems,eukaryotic expression systems,and transgenic mammals.Meanwhile,the expression of recombinant products and their structural similarity to natural lactoferrin have been increasing.This report reviewed the biological activity,recombinant expression systems,and current regulations of lactoferrin.Furthermore,the challenges and future development directions of recombinant lactoferrin were discussed.
