摘要

Abstract

The new generation of rural teachers in China has experienced significant changes in living environments following the reforms and opening-up policies.They not only have higher material demands but also stronger internal emo-tional needs,with a strong desire to move to cities,an identity crisis has become a major reason for the mobility of these new-generation rural teachers.This study adopts a qualitative methodology and conducts a one-year field investigation in a mountainous area of central China.Starting from understanding the survival situations of new-generation rural teachers,it immerses them in the real field scenes to listen to their personal narratives,understand their actions,and explore their identity experiences.it is found thatthe identity dilemma of new-generation rural teachers is mainly manifested as:the loss of values when acquiring identity,role conflicts during post-employment identity adjustment,and fear of"certainty"in self-future identity planning.The resolution of the dilemma requires the dual convergence of external forces and the inner forc-es of the newgeneration of rural teachers.The formulation of policies should not only be limited to material incentives but also extend toward caring for the essence of life.The new generation of rural teachers themselves should also exert their own strength,take the initiative to find the sense of belonging and value of teaching in rural areas,and move towards self-growth.
