摘要

Abstract

Promoting the construction of"new liberal arts"has become the hot topic of China's higher education re-form.In Chinese new liberal arts research,Hiram College has been misunderstood as the birthplace of"new liberal arts"due to the spillover effect of its reform dividend.Influenced by the macro environment,constructivism theory,education policy and the view of"futility"of liberal arts,since 2017,Hiram College has been simultaneously carrying out the reforms of reorganizing faculties,integrating disciplines,optimizing curricula,empowering technology,and sharing faculty within the framework of the New Liberal Arts,which has gained good results and has become a model for the New Liberal Arts in the United States.Hiram's new liberal arts paradigm has the following implications for China:the construction of new lib-eral arts needs to be proactive,break down the barriers of disciplines and specialties,be empowered by science and techn-ology,and have a supporting textbook system and faculty adapted to the new liberal arts.
