Abstract

Fucoxanthin is an abundant carotenoid in nature,but its content is low.In order to increase the content of fucoxanthin,the effects of different concentrations of exogenous UDPG on the photosynthetic capacity and fucoxanthin content of Phaeodactylum tricornutum were investigated in this experiment with chlorophyll fluorescence parameter method and high-performance liquid chromatography.The results showed that 150 μmol/L of UDPG significantly improved the photosynthetic capacity and promoted the accumulation of fucoxanthin in P.tricornutum.The fucoxanthin content reached(9.57±0.81)mg/g,161.76%higher than that of the control.In addition,the contents of diadinoxanthin,diatoxanthin,β-carotene,violaxanthin,chlorophyll a and chlorophyll c2 were increased by 84.31%,79.73%,164.74%,123.04%,358.35%and 2 260.09%compared with that of the control,respectively.It was found for the first time that exogenous addition of UDPG significantly promotes the accumulation of fucoxanthin in P.tricornutum.
