Abstract

The link between secondary school mathematics and university mathematics has long been a significant concern for mathematicians and mathematics educators.This concern can be categorized into two aspects:the transition from secondary school mathematical mindset to a university mathematical mindset with the guidance of teachers,and the incorporation of university mathematical thinking into everyday teaching practices,particularly for novice mathematics teachers of secondary school.In recent years,both domestic and international scholars have extensively investigated these issues.Through a comprehensive examination of relevant literature,this review aims to outline the primary factors contributing to the inadequate connection between secondary school mathematics and university mathematics.These factors include disparities in the definition of mathematical concepts between secondary school and university,students'insufficient ability to engage in mathematical deductive reasoning,students'limited comprehension of mathematical language,and novice teachers'lack of experience in introducing university-level mathematical knowledge into secondary school classrooms.To address these challenges in future teaching,it is recommended to approach elementary mathematics from an advanced perspective,enhance teachers'conceptual understanding of pedagogical knowledge,and employ strategies such as instructional conversion.
