Analysis of impedance modulation variables for surface travelling wave scattering suppression

Abstract
To address the problems of poor low-frequency performance,high weight,and limited environmental adaptability of traditional radar absorbing materials,the introduction of graded impedance structures at material discontinuities was proposed as a means to suppress surface traveling wave scattering.By establishing an electromagnetic model of the metal-air interface,the radar scattering characteristics before and after incorporating a graded impedance structure at the interface were compared,and the impact of the graded impedance structure on traveling wave scattering at the metal-air boundary was analyzed.A systematic study was carried out on the effect of impedance modulation variables on the suppression of surface traveling wave scattering over a wide frequency band for horizontally polarized incident electromagnetic waves,and the underlying patterns were summarized.Electromagnetic simulation results demonstrated a reduction in the radar cross section(RCS)over a wide range of incidence angles and within a broad frequency band from 0.6 GHz to 15 GHz.Notably,the reduction was particularly significant at the peak angle of traveling wave scattering,reaching up to 23.72 dB.These findings provide a theoretical basis and effective reference for the suppression of surface traveling wave scattering on aircraft surfaces.关键词
