Progress,Limitations,and Prospects of Research on Non-University-Based Teacher Educators in China

摘要

Abstract

This study systematically reviewed 99 articles on non-university-based teacher educators(NUBTEs)published in CSSCI-indexed journals since 2000.It is found that the existing research on NUBTEs mainly focuses on five major catego-ries:teaching and research officers,school-based teaching and learning group leaders,mentor teachers,teacher trainers,and hosts of master teacher studios.NUBTEs shoulder four core professional roles:leading teachers'development,promo-ting curriculum implementation,conducting teaching research,and serving education management.They possess three-di-mensional and three-level professional competencies for simultaneously being professionals,educators,and teacher educa-tors,and use four main professional learning methods including individual informal,individual formal,collective informal,and collective formal methods.Existing research suffers from several limitations,including narrowed research subjects,in-sufficient empirical studies,and diverging speculative viewpoints.To deepen the development of research and practice on Chinese NUBTEs,future research should examine underexplored groups of NUBTEs,strengthen empirical investigations,and promote theoretical innovations.
