Abstract

To address the current issues of incomplete harvesting,low efficiency,and ineffective harvesting of lodged leeks in leek harvesters,a pneumatic stalk-supporting device was designed to improve harvesting efficiency and integrity by combining the wind-sensitive characteristics of leeks with their planting patterns.Based on a traditional conical stalk-supporting device,air outlets were incorporated to achieve stalk-supporting tasks primarily through direct physical contact and secondarily via indirect pneumatic assistance.Using the Standard k-epsilon turbulence model,finite element software was employed to analyze three key factors affecting outlet velocity:outlet angle,diameter,and total number,aiming to identify the optimal parameter combination.Field harvesting experiments were conducted with the lodging rate and stem-leaf loss rate as evaluation metrics.Results demonstrated that the optimal stalk-supporting effect was achieved with an outlet angle of 30°,diameter of 8 mm,and a total of 8 outlets.Compared to traditional devices,the novel pneumatic stalk-supporting device reduced the lodging rate by 3.071%and the stem-leaf loss rate by 1.691%,meeting the overall requirements for leek harvesting.This study provides theoretical and experimental foundations for the development of pneumatic stalk-supporting devices.
