Empowering Mathematics Education with ICT:Global Practices and Current Progress

Abstract
The 15th International Congress on Mathematical Education(ICME-15)was held in Sydney,Australia,in July 2024.Through combing the information and communication technology(ICT)-related academic activities in the conference,it is found that the current research on ICT in mathematics education shows a globalization trend,and presents macro features such as diversified research themes,rich types of technologies,and uneven distribution of educational stages and mathematical contents.Regarding different themes,ICT exhibits varying empowerment trends:in classroom instruction,the focus of ICT-enabled research has shifted from teacher-centered teaching to student-centered learning;in terms of teachers'professional development,studies focus on teacher communication and knowledge enhancement,with less attention paid to the development of digital literacy;ICT applications to support students'learning tend to be refined,but their practicability and adaptability need to be further examined;student assessment methods supported by ICT are transitioning from outcome-based to process-oriented,though issues of accuracy and ethics need to be resolved;the application of artificial intelligence(AI)in mathematics education,although highly promising,needs to be explored in depth in terms of how it is used and its effects.关键词
