Abstract

To resolve the simulation deviation in twin-screw extrusion of okara caused by neglecting wall slip,this study applied the generalized Navier slip criterion to simulate its mixing performance.Using Polyflow software,the effects of screw type and rotation speed on mixing were analyzed through residence time distribution(RTD),mixed statistics,and maximum shear stress.Experimental validation was performed by assessing color distribution uniformity in dyed okara.Simulations showed that under no-slip conditions,materials in kneading blocks had the shortest RTD(3~8 s)and stable shear stress(4×10-⁶~6×10-⁶ Pa).Wall slip extended RTD to 8~30 s.At 120 r/min with reverse-threaded screws,the RTD exhibited a bimodal distribution,reducing mixing uniformity,though kneading blocks maintained the fastest homogenization time and higher shear stress(6×10-⁶~8×10-⁶ Pa).Validation tests confirmed interlaced color distribution in extrudates,with an R-pixel standard deviation of 22.89 and significant particle refinement,aligning with simulation results.This research offers theoretical insights for optimizing twin-screw extrusion processes.
