Abstract
The vegetable industry,as an important component of agricultural production, has experienced rapid development globally in recent years.Based on authoritative data from the FAO,the National Bureau of Statistics, and other sources, this paper systematically analyzed the planting area, output, regional distribution, major varieties, cultivation models, and trade conditions of the global and Chinese vegetable industries since the beginning of the 21st century. The study found that the global vegetable planting area had grown at an average annual compound rate of 1.06%,with global vegetable production reaching 1.34 billion tons in 2023.Asia contributed more than 60%of global production, with China and India being the main producing countries.Technological advancements had promoted diversified cultivation models, including open-field cultivation, protected cultivation, vertical farming, and organic agriculture.Chinese vegetable industry ranks first in scale worldwide, with an estimated planting area of 23 029.78 thousand hm2 and a production volume of approximately 800 million tons in 2024,forming six major production regions.Shandong and Henan provinces were high-yield core areas. In terms of international trade,China's vegetable exports were mainly directed to East Asia and Southeast Asia, with a prominent surplus advantage. This paper provided data support for extending the vegetable industry chain, improving technical efficiency, and increasing farmers'incomes.关键词
