Abstract

Investigation of quality differences among diverse tomato cultivars generates essential scientific data,which underpins the optimization of cultivation practices,improvement of nutritional profiles,and market develop ment.This study was to investigate the quality differences of 32 different tomato varieties collected in Shouguang city,Shandong province,by measuring the quality components of total acid,soluble sugar,vitamin C and protein,using principal component analysis,cluster analysis,membership function method and other methods.Medium-sized tomato was closely related to soluble sugar,cherry tomato was closely related to protein,total acid and vitamin C.The results of cluster analysis showed that 32 varieties of tomato formed three main clusters,but overlaps were observed in certain quality components,which might be due to the existence of intermediate forms or quality overlaps among some varieties.Finally,the objective analysis and evaluation of all varieties were carried out by membership function evaluation method,which was consistent with the results of cluster analysis.Therefore,the results of this study revealed the quality differences between 32 different varieties of tomatoes,providing an important scientific basis for tomato planting and breeding,and a useful reference for tomato product optimization and market development.
