摘要

Abstract

A broadband microstrip phased array antenna was designed for the X band to achieve one dimensional large angle beam scanning.The one-dimensional phased array antenna was composed of a mirror-symmetrical rectangular microstrip array and the corresponding feeding network.According to the design,multiple U-shaped slots were etched on the surface of the microstrip patch antenna element.This method increases the resonance frequency and improves impedance matching,which thus broadens the operating bandwidth of the microstrip patch antenna.Moreover,a mirror-symmetrical linear array layout was adopted to address the deterioration due to the asymmetric slotting of the beam difference of the phased-array antenna.Simulation and experimental results show that the antenna has a voltage standing wave ratio(VSWR)bandwidth from 8.65 GHz to 10.25 GHz,and the relative operating bandwidth can reach 17%.Within the operating frequency,the antenna gain remains stable and exceeds 15.3 dBi.The antenna can perform one-dimensional beam scanning within±53° and exhibits good sum and difference beam characteristics.With its low profile,compact structure,and excellent performance,this phased array antenna is suitable for various applications,including radar detection and direction finding.
