Effect of 2,4-epibrassinolide Treatment on Ascorbic Acid-glutathione Cycle Metabolism in Strawberries

Abstract
[Objective]The ascorbic acid-glutathione(AsA-GSH)cycle metabolism,which participates in the scavenging of reactive oxygen species(ROS),is an important antioxidant system in plants,maintaining the redox balance of cells.Measuring the key metabolites and enzyme activities in the AsA-GSH cycle is of great significance for studying the antioxidant capacity of plants.2,4-epibrassinolide(EBR),which can promote plant cell growth and significantly enhance the resistance of plants to abiotic stress,is recognized as the sixth plant hormone.[Method]In this study,'Benihoppe'strawberries were used as the experimental material,and treated with 5 μmol·L-1 EBR spray.The effects of EBR treatment on the AsA-GSH cycle metabolism of strawberries during 5 days of storage at(20±1)℃were investigated.[Results]The results showed that EBR treatment could inhibit the occurrence of strawberry rot and the increase of malondialdehyde(MDA)content,delay the decline of total phenols,total anthocyanins content in strawberries,effectively inhibit the decrease of ascorbic acid(AsA),dehydroascorbic acid(DHA),reduced glutathione(GSH)and oxidized glutathione(GSSG)content,and increase the activities of glutathione reductase(GR),dehydroascorbate reductase(DHAR)and monodehydroascorbate reductase(MDHAR),as well as the expression levels of FaGR,FaDHAR and FaMDHAR genes.[Conclusion]Spraying 5 μmol·L-1 EBR reduces the degree of strawberries rot,thereby maintaining a higher content of antioxidant substances by regulating the AsA-GSH cycle system and alleviating the oxidative damage of postharvest strawberries.关键词
