Design and Experiment of a Fermentation Tank for Crushed Horticultural Residues

Abstract
[Objective]A fermentation tank capable of rapid temperature elevation in cold regions was designed in order to solve the issues of resource waste and environmental pollution caused by the improper disposal or incineration of large quantities of horticultural residues.[Methods]The overall structure and key components of the tank were designed and selected.Taking crushed potato stems and leaves as the research object,the discrete element simulation parameters such as Poisson's ratio,density,shear modulus were measured.Discrete element simulation experiments and response surface analysis were conducted with mixing speed,installation angle of mixing blades,number of blades as experimental factors,and material mixing uniformity coefficient as experimental indicator.[Results]The optimized parameters were obtained as follows:the mixing speed of 30 r·min-1,installation angle of mixing blades of 45°,and number of mixing blades of 9,then the obtained average mixing uniformity coefficient was 0.13.The fermentation tank Prototype was manufactured according to the optimized parameters of the simulation,and fermentation experiments were conducted.The fermented organic fertilizer was tested according to the NY525-2021 standard,and the results are organic matter mass fraction of 68.7%,total nutrients of 6.3%,pH value of 7.2,seed germination index of 82.3%,and all indicators of the fermented organic fertilizer met the standards.The designed fermentation tank shortened the fermentation time of fresh and wet horticultural residues to about 7.5 days.[Conclusion]This study provides reference for the development and production of related mechanical equipment,and is of great significance for the resource development and utilization of horticultural residues.关键词
