Abstract

In the process of transformation from connotation-oriented development to high-quality development of higher education,it is of fundamental significance to construct a theoretical framework of college students' social emotional competence with cultural adaptability.Based on the"prototype method"and"in-depth interviews",it is found that Chinese college students' social emotional competence presents dual attributes:the first is the"competence characteristics"with practice orientation as the core,covering operational dimensions such as open-mindedness and conscientiousness in real situations;the second is the"competence tendency"with ethical values as the core,which is reflected in developmental dimensions such as sense of value and sense of meaning.The former constitutes the action basis for the development of competence,while the latter gives it cultural legitimacy through value guidance.The dialectical unity of the two forms a deep echo with the practical rationality of"unity of knowledge and action"in Chinese traditional culture.This relational integration of the dual dimensions of"practice-value"is not only different from the instrumental competence view under the Western individualistic paradigm,but also reveals the cultural characteristics of"ethical orientation"in the development of Chinese social emotional competence.This finding not only helps to construct a localized theoretical framework of social emotional competence,but also suggests that higher education needs to break through the single skill training model and take into account the balanced development of"competence characteristics"and"competence tendency".
