Abstract
The figure of the solitary is a central construct in Rousseau's scheme of natural education.In Rousseau's vision,solitude is not a negative state of existence,but a positive path toward freedom,happiness,and the realization of virtue.This conception is embodied in his delib-erate choice of Robinson Crusoe as a pedagogical model for Emile's natural development.Through the progressive elaboration of the solitary figure in Emile and The Reveries of the Solitary Walker,Rousseau demonstrates that solitude is not merely a means of natural education,but a de-fining trait of the ideal personality it seeks to cultivate.The happiness of the solitary arises from the unrestrained expression of natural inclinations-it represents a fulfilled state of human nature and the joy of self-existence.In this light,solitude functions both as an educational method and as a moral sphere for character formation.It becomes not merely the objective condition of the in-dividual in natural education but also the ideal pursuit of inner cultivation.Accordingly,Rous-seau's portrayal of natural education is not a static depiction,but a philosophical inquiry into how to recognize and activate one's capacity for self-sufficiency.Solitude thus emerges as the key path to happiness and the spiritual cornerstone of Rousseau's educational philosophy.关键词
