The Effect of Belief Control on Mathematical Task Value in a Generative AI Environment:The Mediating Role of Self-Efficacy and Goal Orientation

Abstract
Mathematics learning beliefs,as a crucial psychological characteristic,have an established association with mathematics task value,yet this relationship remains understudied.Based on a generative AI-supported learning environment,this study investigated 604 university students from Hunan and Zhejiang provinces using cluster random sampling.It explored the impact of control of learning beliefs on mathematical task value,analyzing the mediating roles of mathematical self-efficacy,mastery goal orientation,and performance goal orientation.The findings revealed that:(1)Control of learning beliefs in mathematics significantly and positively predicted mathematical task value;(2)Mathematical self-efficacy,mastery goal orientation,and performance goal orientation all mediated the relationship between control of learning beliefs and mathematical task value,with the mastery goal orientation exhibiting the strongest mediating effect;(3)Mathematical self-efficacy formed chain mediating effects with both types of goal orientations,jointly explaining the influence of control of learning beliefs on mathematical task value.This research reveals the mechanisms through which mathematical self-efficacy and achievement goal orientations operate within the belief-value relationship in generative AI applications,thereby broadening the research scope for AI-driven mathematical psychology.关键词
